MCV has revealed that the slimmer, sexier PlayStation 2 currently selling for an easy $129 will receive a new $30 price cut in 2008, lowering the cost to $99.

The model is also being adjusted to contain a built-in power supply. The news follows the unit's 7th Anniversary and Sony's confirmation that it has sold more than 120 million PS2s world-wide since launch.

Still think that an even cheaper PS2 is always a good deal, and if you're not up for SingStar Pop or upgrading to a PS3 yet it's a solid alternative.

Think of it this way, you can buy the PS3 40gb and the slimline 2, and then you would be set! Tell me you couldn't find a place to hide something so small.

I suppose the price cut is to justify the lack of backwards compatibility in the ps3.
