Ubisoft Announces Haze PS3 DemoPosted 2:17pm Tue Apr 15, 2008 by Eric Jonathan Smith Tags: PlayStation 3, Haze, Ubisoft, demo, PlayStation Network
Ubisoft announced today a playable demo for its upcoming FPS, Haze. As the game is a PS3 exclusive, the demo will see release on the PlayStation Network in early May, according to Ubisoft. The demo will contain a portion of the single-player campaign as well as four-person co-op multiplayer.

Haze was developed by Free Radical, the British developers known for their TimeSplitters series but probably more famous for comprising key members of the development team of Rare's N64 opus, Goldeneye 007. The pedigree seems to be in Haze's favor.

Haze releases to retail on May 20, 2008.

Two interesting bits have been added to Sony's PlayStation Store today, including a nice blue theme for Square Enix's Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII and a demo of Atlus's R-Type Command.

Both free items are for the PSP; do note that Sony requires you to be logged into your PlayStation Store account to access the content.

You'll also need to have the free PlayStation Network Downloader software installed prior to downloading the content. You can check that out here if you don't already have it.

Following the recent teaser site rumors, Capcom has officially confirmed that the Devil May Cry 4 demo for the Playstation Network and Xbox Live will, in fact, be available on January 24.

Quoth directly from Capcom Entertainment:

"The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer.  The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4's varied locales, allowing gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero's unique abilities."

The Club Demo Now Available in North AmericaPosted 12:20pm Tue Jan 22, 2008 by Shiva Stella Tags: Xbox 360, Microsoft, demo, The Club, Xbox Live, Xbox Live Arcade
Some good news for Xbox 360 gamers in the US today, as The Club demo that was previously made available to Australia, Europe, and New Zealand is now up for download via the Xbox Live service.

Not a lot of perky bits of information have been filtered from the Microsoft camp since its little holiday hiccup, aside from a free download of Undertow that no one cares about anyway (why not arrange a price point and let me download one XBLA game I actually want), but at least the demos continue. And everyone loves the demos.

MGS4 Downloadable Demo Coming To PSN Next Month?Posted 1:43pm Mon Jan 21, 2008 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: metal gear solid 4, PlayStation 3, demo, playstation network

According to website Chicago Gamer's Club, and apparently anybody with a copy of UK mag "PSW," and at least one working eyeball, we should be expecting a downloadable demo of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to show up on the PlayStation Network (the PS3's Xbox Live counterpart) in February.

Metal Gear Solids 1 and 2 both had pre-release demos that were quite a big deal (I'd estimate that roughly 104% of Zone of the Enders' sales can be attributed to the bundled MGS2 demo). Demos mean the game is close enough to completion to be able to cut a chunk of it out without screwing anything up, and it means that there's at least some small parcel of the story that Kojima can't stay tight-lipped about.

Will the MGS4 demo sell PlayStation 3s, though, that's the question.
