Ragnarok Online: Play for Free, Now! (Legally.)Posted 10:17pm Thu Oct 16, 2008 by Ryan Fulton Tags: Ragnarok Online, MyungJin Lee, Gravity, Free

Ragnarok Online, the MMO that put artist Myung-Jin Lee on the Western map, is now officially and legally available for free.

Gravity Interactive, the purveyor of all things International Ragnarok Online, has gone live with their Valkyrie server where you can come to study at the altar of ungodly grinding without paying alms.  If I weren't already completely burnt out on Ragnarok Online from a series of addictions in the years past I would be rather tempted to try my hand at RO again.

Rumor: PS4/Wii HD Planned for 2011.Posted 5:41pm Wed Oct 01, 2008 by Ryan Fulton Tags: Rumor, Wii HD, PlayStation 4, NeoGAF, My Tears

I never thought I would say this, but I think technology is moving too fast.  Perhaps I'm growing old, but it seems as if this generation has hardly learned to crawl and already there are rumors of the next generation of consoles due in 3 years.

Within the last 24 hours, rumors for both the PS4 and Wii HD have surfaced on the web.  Just for safety's sake, they're rumors, again, rumors.  That being said, it's not implausible that both are interested in getting onto the market first after seeing how much having a first place spot helped the Xbox 360 and PS2 (Let's ignore Dreamcast for argument's sake.)

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) Ships To StoresPosted 12:34pm Mon Sep 15, 2008 by Tim Grube Tags: Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning, WAR, PC, Electronic Arts, Mythic

Mythic Entertainment and Electronic Arts today announced that Warhammer
Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR), will ship tomorrow to retail stores across North America, Europe, and Oceania in preparation for launch on September 18th

“This is truly a historic day for both EA and Mythic as we prepare to send more copies of WAR to retailers than any other newly launched MMORPG in North America and Europe. Over the course of our beta, over a million gamers throughout the world sent a clear signal to us - they want WAR, and we are more than happy to oblige them,” said Mark Jacobs, co-founder and general manager of Mythic Entertainment. “In three days the real battle begins – we have declared September 18th the ‘Day of Reckoning,’ and WAR will soon be upon us!”

WAR set a company record for the most retail pre-orders placed by consumers for a PC title in EA’s 26 year history. Overall, the company has sold 1.5 million units of WAR to retailers.

A New Army of Two Trailer Arrived Today, Killed Indiscriminately Posted 9:37pm Fri Jan 18, 2008 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: Army of Two, EA, video, Xbox 360

There's been some questions as to the game's quality, to be sure, but there's certainly some potential here: Amy of Two (Army Harder?) is a co-op shooter where your burly buddy can either be controlled via a real-life friend or, for lack of one of those, by AI and prompted by voice commands issued by yourself via the Xbox Live headset.

A new trailer released today. It features a lot of shooting and jumping and such. It's embedded after the jump.

PSP Not the Only Sony Device to Score Skype...Posted 9:17pm Mon Jan 07, 2008 by Shiva Stella Tags: skype, sony, mylo 2, psp, CES 2008

The PlayStation Portable isn't the only device getting Skype (Internet phone) access from Sony, as a quick check on Sony's CES 2008 blog reveals that its Mylo 2 (looks familiar, doesn't it?) will also utilize Skype for free.

So if you're crazy about Skype, own a "phat" PSP, and don't want to upgrade to the newer model of the same thing, a Mylo 2 might be an option. The Mylo 2 contains features for instant messaging and Web access along with Skype.

MFA's Disbarment Trial Finished, Verdict Comes Next YearPosted 10:22pm Thu Dec 06, 2007 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: mystery florida attorney, jack thompson, law, legal, politics
According to GamePolitics, the Florida Bar trial against Mystery Florida Attorney (MFA) has completed, but after hearing him talk for two weeks, the judge needs some serious alone time. The ruling has been delayed until next month so Judge Dava Tunis can review the transcripts and maybe clean some crazy out of her ears.

After the trial had wrapped up, MFA's last motion with the Federal court to vacate the trial was denied. So he went ahead and filed another one.

Until then, MFA is free to sow discontent and further his reputation as a lawyer.

Watch this space for more updates.

Army of Two Isn't So Awesome, Says Xbox WorldPosted 7:59pm Thu Dec 06, 2007 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: army of two, delays, EA, xbox world

At E3 2006, the biggest show in the history of the event, I was shepherded through the thumping mosh pit that was the EA booth by a company rep and led behind a rope and up a flight of stairs into their media demonstration area. It was there that I first saw Amy of Two.

I didn't get to play it; rather, I watched it being played in a room outfitted with two televisions and four Xbox 360s (a debug and retail version for each TV). The small, unventilated room was like a furnace thanks to the heat-machine 360s, but despite the involuntary sauna treatment, I absolutely loved what I saw. Army of Two is a game featuring two protagonists, the secondary character can either be controlled by a buddy in co-op mode or controlled by AI following voice commands given by you.

The voice command feature rocked my socks. The player would speak into his Xbox Live headset commands such as "shoot those guys," "cover me," "help me up," "I need ammo, and so on. I wanted that game so badly and I wanted it to be good.

Xbox World, who had a chance to play around with the code that would have shipped this month, says that what they saw was absolutely horrible.

The game received many release pushbacks, including a recent release-change from November/December 2007 to first-quarter 2008. The extra few months will have to be spent doing some serious fixing, Xbox World says.

They say the two characters are supposed to seem "rebelious" but actually come off as completely unlikeable, and that the entire story is chock full of a ridiculous amount of violence and swear words and comes off as adolescent. Hmm, that sounds like another game I played recently. Unlike Kane & Lynch, though, Army of Two isn't being shoved out the door and the delay may actually give the developers a chance to straighten things up.

Mystery Florida Attorney Faces Trial TodayPosted 10:46am Mon Nov 26, 2007 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: mystery florida attorney, jack thompson, law, legal, politics

We at GameBump have a policy about not mentioning the name of a certain troll/bully lawyer unless we absolutely have to. This not yet being one of those instances, I'd just like to say that -- whoever he is -- he faces trial today against the Florida Bar who seeks to disbar him for his legal antics as of the last few years.

His attempts to delay the trial this weekend failed, and as much as he decries the discrimination against him for his "Christian activism," because Christians are the most repressed minority in America, the trial will go on as schedule. The court has apparently even cleared out its whole schedule this week just for this.

Will MFA be disbarred? Without any legal leg to stand on, will he still try to poach grieving families and convince them to blame video games? Will he still be invited to appear on Fox News every time someone under the age of 25 commits any act of violence? Who knows. I can't see him going gently into that good night just because of a massive embarrassment like this.

If he were disbarred he would no longer be a lawyer, but one doesn't necessarily need to be a lawyer to file a civil suit for one's self.

Check out GamePolitics for full coverage.
